"In the Abyss of Dreams" was born from contrast — the tension between darkness and light that lives inside all of us. Two worlds collide at a jagged, luminous border: one side built in layered relief with flowing, organic lines; the other carrying a cracked, cellular structure beneath deep black. Between them, molten gold erupts like light breaking through the deepest darkness.
I chose heavy texture paste alongside acrylic to give this work a physical presence — this is not just a painting to look at, but one to feel. The surface is richly tactile, with raised ridges and sculptural depth that change with the light throughout the day.
I hope viewers will stand in front of this and feel that somewhere in the darkness, there is always gold. That even in the abyss — there are dreams.
