"Golden West" began as an experiment with light — and became something much more quiet and inevitable.
Dark conifer silhouettes rise against a luminous golden sky, their roots dissolving into shadow and mist. There is no wind here, no movement — only the last warmth before nightfall, the moment when the world holds its breath between day and darkness.
I painted this in one sitting, following the light wherever it wanted to go. The golden background was built in layers, each one slightly different — because real gold is never uniform, and real light is never still.
This is a painting for anyone who has ever stood at the edge of a forest and felt, just for a moment, completely held.
